Effective February 1, 2012, Minnco Credit Union will stop mailing Overdraft Notices and Transfer Notices. No other changes are being made to Courtesy Pay or overdraft protection. If you haven’t done so, we suggest you sign up for eBranch (Minnco’s online banking platform), or eTell (our 24-hour telephone banking service). Both of these FREE services can help you monitor your account. Our new version of eBranch, coming in March 2012, features text message and e-mail alerts, including low balance and overdraft notices.

Chain of Hearts
It's time for Minnco's annual Chain of Hearts fundraiser. Minnco offers financial course for young adults
This course is designed to provide guidelines and principles in an easy to understand format to help young people get on the correct path to managing their money and understanding debt. Scholarships Available!
The Minnesota Family Involvement Council (FIC) is offering two $1,000 scholarships and twenty $500 scholarships to 20 credit union members throughout Minnesota. Any individual attending a college or university, graduate or law school, 2- or 4-year program or community or technical college in the fall of 2012/spring 2013 is eligible.

Those interested in applying need to complete a one-page application form and submit a typed essay (up to 500 words in length) answering the questions, “What impact has social media had on your financial decisions and how could credit unions use these tools to help you with your financial goals?””

Applicants are encouraged to research the topic using any sources available. The scholarship deadline is Wednesday, February 1, 2012. The 22 scholarship recipients will be selected and announced in the spring of 2012.

Check card not working? Use "credit" instead of "debit"
Some merchants (Macy's, Walmart, Kohl's, Best Buy) have changed their PIN validation link, causing PIN-based debit transactions to be denied. If this happens to you, swipe your card again and select "credit". Depending on the merchant and the purchase amount, you may or may not need to sign for your purchase. Selecting "credit" instead of "debit" for all of your purchases is preferred for two reasons: Minnco earns a small interchange amount that helps subsidize our check card program and you, the buyer, receives purchase protection through Visa.

Recently passed legislation prohibits us from paying important transactions like ATM withdrawals and one-time check card purchases unless we receive your consent to authorize payment if your account is overdrawn.
